Caterham School has invested £4.2m into creating a new North Wing to make available facilities for a new health centre, school shop and sixth form centre. Vistamatic secure vision panels were specified for the health centre to provide discreet observation without disturbance into the boys and girls wards and treatment room.

Caterham School has invested £4.2m into creating a new North Wing to make available facilities for a new health centre, school shop and sixth form centre. Vistamatic secure vision panels were specified for the health centre to provide discreet observation without disturbance into the boys and girls wards and treatment room.

This state of the art building, designed by Miller Bourne architects, spans over four floors. The health care centre, located on the third floor, boosts a new consulting room, two 3 bed wards, office and seating area. The secure vision panels allows the nurses to be able to regularly check on students without opening the door, which in turn creates a much more private and tranquil environment.

Robert Charlesworth, Estates Bursar for Caterham School, comments:

“With 160 boys and girls boarding it is necessary for the school to have a health care centre. Previously, nurses had to leave ward doors open for ease of access but with secure vision panels, doors can remain shut which creates a much quieter atmosphere, plus infections can be isolated more effectively.”

The oak framed secure vision panels have now been installed within the new health centre and complement the contemporary fresh interior. The North Wing is now officially opened to students.
